I FINALLY DID IT

My sister, Manetta,
(you'll find her at Fun With Ink) has been hounding me relentless to become a blogger. It's out of my comfort zone so please be patient with me while I learn my way around. Computers and I have a love/hate relationship (mostly hate on my side). Thank God for Manetta and her knowledge of computers because I get myself into some real trouble at times and she has to bail me out.

Enough on my love/hate relationship. Let's talk about cards. Lately it seems I have been making 3 types of cards. Funerals, Babies, and trying to get my Christmas cards going. This week I'll start with my baby cards.

I work on the Graveyard shift at our local nursing home. We have a staff of 14 LNA's and 6 nurses. It's a very small crew. One of the girls on our shift decided to have a baby. As I love to knit, I made a round afghan for the baby and a card to go with it. Four other girls on my shift decided to have a baby and my nephew and his girlfriend are also expecting. I couldn't make one person a gift without doing the same for the others now could I. The babies are due--one in August(Already born--a boy), two in September (girl & boy) and 2 in October (boys). I have been a very busy girl trying to finish before the baby showers.

I only have one decent baby stamp to make the cards with. The stamp is from Impression Obsession called Baby Shoes. I used Nestability Classic & Scalloped Circles in my Cuttlebug to cut and mat around shoes. Inked around edges with appropriate colors for the cards. I also used Embossing A2 folder in my Cuttlebug called Baby. I dabbed ink on the background on the boys card and just used pink cardstock for the girl. I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink because it doesn't bleed when I color and blend with woodless pencils. I love these pencils but wish there were more colors to choose from. I dressed up the image with stickles glitter glue and embossed the words with embossing powder. One of the cards I cut out the baby shoe image and used pop up dots to make it a 3-D look. I dressed the cards up with a little embellishments. Simple, Easy and Fun to make.

This is it for this week. Now, let me count up how many times I had to call Manetta for help. one...two...three... I'm determine to learn...

Now for the best part, these cards are fantastic. Sure do miss seeing you around the group, but understand with your work schedule and then trying to make all of these baby gifts.
